Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Thank you for stopping by!

Waco, TX

Waco, TX

One of the things I love about living in Houston, Texas is that we are just a few hours away from exploring new cities around us. Over spring break we decided to take the three hour drive to Waco.

Waco is a quaint little town located in central Texas (Northwest of Houston) near the Brazos River. Estimated total population 137,000 people. Thanks to Chip and Joanna Gaines from the HGTV show Fixer Upper, Waco has become a destination. I mean, that’s why I wanted to visit Waco, to explore Magnolia Market.

I’m a huge fan of Chip and Joanna. Watching their show, FIxer Upper, inspires me to be creative with my home decor. I love Joanna’s style and the way she mixes natural elements with rustic materials. Seeing Joanna’s work in person was awesome. Magnolia Market at the Silos is located in the heart of downtown Waco. It is a beautiful compound with a garden, family area with games, food trucks, and shopping. Not to mention the silos sitting in the background. Every little corner is worthy of an Instagram selfie. The shop is full of eye catching merch. I wanted to buy everything!!! Be prepared to spend cash and take lots of cute pictures while sipping on fresh good ol fashion sweet tea out of a mason jar.

Next stop, Dr Pepper Museum. Who would have thought Dr Pepper started in a small little town in central Texas. It was interesting to learn about the creator and creation of Dr Pepper. Displayed in the museum is also the evaluation of the label, soda bottles, and bottling. My son, of course, was a fan of the Dr Pepper museum. Michael had his very first Dr Pepper in the museum’s soda shop. Definitely recommend the Dr Pepper museum especially if you have kids.

Every family trip we incorporate sports in one way or another. All my minions play sports and so did my husband so it’s just part of what we do. On this trip we made a stop at the the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. Over 300 inductees from every corner of Texas is honored in this museum. Needless to say, Texas produces a lot of great athletes that make it big. I even got see some of my home teams like the L.A. Chargers (they will always be the San Diego Chargers to me), Dodgers, and Rams.

Next time you are wondering where you should go for a quick weekend getaway, take a trip down to Waco and enjoy the town.
